We believe that it is possible to make fair pay on every level of production a prerequisite for trade.

„Fair pay“ meaning enough to cover basic human needs including:

1. Access to safe drinking water
2. Access to safe food
3. Sufficient clothing
4. Sufficient private living space
5. Freedom of movement
6. Access to primary healthcare
7. Protection from occupational hazards
8. Limited working hours
9. Right to an employment contract
10. Right to peaceful assembly and association
11. Access to electricity
12. Access to the internet
13. Right to a pension
14. Education of children

These entitlements derive directly from the universal declaration of human rights and ought to be granted to every human being.

They need to be conferred into feasible, yet reliable and unambiguous standards by those who turn universal fairtrade into law.
